ARUBA-LIZA HELDER, 23

Liza Helder was born and raised in the small community of Santa Cruz. Her childhood was full of athletics growing up. Liza liked to engage in many sports, such as tennis, basketball, and taekwondo.
She also has a strong passion for synchronized swimming. Currently, Liza is studying both Pharmacology and Political Science so she can one day work in philanthropy to help neglected children in need.
BAHAMAS- CELESTE MARSHALL, 20

Celeste Marshall was born and raised in the island of New Providence, Bahamas. She spent her childhood going to the beach, modeling, and dancing. In 10 years from now, Celeste hopes to be running a successful Pediatric Clinic.
BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS-ABIGAIL HYNDMAN, 22

Abigail Hyndman grew up between the U.S and British Virgin Islands. Growing up in the islands, she had a very peaceful childhood where the air was filled with the sea breeze. Abigail is currently studying Biology at the Xavier University of Louisiana in efforts to pursue her goal of becoming a Board Certified Anesthesiologist. Her favorite ways to spend time include reading, cooking, and hanging out with her family.
CAYMAN ISLANDS- LINDSAY JAPAL,24

Lindsay was born and raised in George Town. An avid diver, Lindsay is always trying to find new ways to explore life under the sea. In her free time, Lindsay likes to try new foods or relax with a good book or movie. Currently, Lindsay is studying finance and marketing so she can pursue a successful career in the financial service industry.
CURACAO- MONIFA JOANNE MARIE JANSEN, 19

Monifa Jansen likes to broaden her knowledge of the world by traveling. At the moment she spends her days preparing herself for the Miss Universe pageant; this includes a lot of exercise.
Monifa learned to play guitar from her father at a very young age, and also indulges in other art forms such as playing the piano, singing, painting, and dancing. She’s trained in ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and her nation’s traditional dances such as the Waltz, Mazurka, Danza, Tumba and Tambú.
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC- DULCITA LYNN LIEGGI, 23

Dulcita Lieggi’s passion in life is acting. In her spare time, she enjoys writing web-articles and watching movies. Although born in Santo Domingo, she spent her childhood in several different places, including Italy and upstate New York. Because of her strong interest in film, Dulcita is planning on going back to school to study production so she can be familiar with both sides of the camera.
GUYANA- RUQAYYAH BOYER, 22

Ruqayyah Boyer was raised in the extremely close-knit community of Linden, a region known for it’s sandy hills and blue lakes.. Her greatest interest in life is philanthropy and helping others. Ruqayyah also enjoys indulging in the arts, including poetry, dance, music. Currently, she is studying to become a lawyer, specializing in International Relations and Diplomacy.
HAITI- CHRISTELA JACQUES, 22
JAMAICA-CHANTAL ZAKY, 24

Chantal Zaky was born in Hempstead New York USA to a Jamaican Mother and American Father. With parents who love to travel, Chantal and her family spent much of her childhood seeing the world and embracing different cultures. Her biggest passion in life is education and treatment for patients with HIV/AIDS. Chantal’s hobbies include traveling, sports, and swimming in the ocean. One day, she hopes to have a career in Broadcast Media and Journalism. She currently resides in Kingston, Jamaica.
PUERTO RICO- BODINE KOEHLER, 20

Bodine Koehler was born in Amsterdam, and moved to Puerto Rico where she was raised by her parents. Her interests include traveling, playing the piano, singing, and jogging through Puerto Rico’s National Rainforest. She is a trained pianist and music composer.
ST. LUCIA- TARA EDWARD, 22
TRINIDAD & TOBAGO- AVIONNE MARK, 23

Avionne Mark was always a tomboy growing up, playing in the streets of her hometown in Champ Fleurs. She has a keen interest in youth development and tourism policy changes. Avionne’s hobbies range from hiking and going to the beach to writing poetry and makeup artistry. Her career ambition is to become a Tourism Ambassador.
The 2012 MISS UNIVERSE competition airs live from Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on December 19th. The show will be hosted by Andy Cohen and Giuliana Rancic.
On that night Miss Universe Angola Leila Lopes will take her last walk. On September 12, 2011 Leila Lopes made history as the first woman from Angola to win the Miss Universe crown. The 26-year-old beauty quickly won over the capacity crowd in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She has been to several regional Miss Universe pageants this during her reign including Jamaica’s, Bahamas’ and Guyana’s.
