Rohan Marley has come to the defense of his ex Lauryn Hill amongst claims by her former Fuggee bandmate Wyclef Jean, that she dupped him into believing he fathered her first child.
The son of Reggae legend Bob Marley told TMZ that he thinks Wyclef “knew from jump that was my son from the day [Lauryn] was pregnant” and is “just saying false things to get book headlines”
Wyclef released his book Purpose: An Immigrant’s Story this week and in it revealed that he and Hill had an affair in 1996, the year her first child Zion David was born.
Marley a former U of Miami footballer and head of Marley Coffee admits Clef and Lauryn may have seen each other before he got in the picture but that ended after Wyclef set them up.
He said: “They were definitely not messing around, or he would never have given me the okay.”
Rohan, who ended up having five children with the singer before they split up, syas Wyclef’s versionof events is “bullshit” and he has no plans to confront the Haiti-born rapper because “he knows he is fronting himself.”
Wyclef, who is still married to his wife of 18 years Marie Claudinette, is standing by his story, stating:
“There is no way that I would have shown up in the hospital in that circumstance to wait for a baby to be born if it was not mine… The idea of a memoir is to tell the truth. I know that often the truth hurts, but a lie hurts even more.”
Well they say there’s three sides to every story… Wonder when we will hear from Lauryn????
…And, this baby is now a 15 year-old kid. I’m sure he’s hearing about this. Hope he’s dealing well with it.
