We already mentioned over the weekend that Nicki Minaj is on the American Idol Season 12 judding panel. Now we’ve got pics of her on set.
The “Pound The Alarm” rapstress was in New York City yesterday performing her judging duties in the first round of “Idol” auditions.
The Young Money rapper doesn’t mind if the contestants cover her songs. “If they want to, it’ll be fun,” she said. “I’ll probably start cracking up laughing just ’cause I’m mentally unstable sometimes, but they shouldn’t be afraid at all. We’ll have fun. The Barbz are gonna be watching. It’s gonna be poppin’.”
At their Jazz at Lincoln Center photo call, long-standing judge Randy Jackson welcomed Nicki to the “Idol” family. “I’m happy that Nicki’s here. She brings a whole ‘nother cool vibe that we’ve never had on the show,” he told the AP.
Although initial reports were that Nicki will be earning $8m on the show, AP reports its really about $12m for a one year deal.
Fellow newbie, Mariah Carey looks forward to her judging duties as well.
“What I think I wanna be is honest and someone that the contestants can look to for guidance.”
The Grammy-winning diva was reportedly paid close to $18 million for one season.
Idol returns to Fox in January 2012 with host Ryan Seacrest and judges Randy Jackson, Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, and Keith Urban.
