In a tearful interview on ABC’s “Nightline” BBW star Evelyn Lozada revealed deets about the domestic dispute between herself and her estranged husband Chad Johnson which led to his arrest and her receiving six stitches on her forehead.
She confirmed rumors that it started when she confronted him over a receipt for condoms she found in his car:
“…And the very first thing that was on there was that he purchased a box of condoms. So I looked at the date and it was, like, July 20 something, it was literally, like, three weeks after my wedding.”
“He got upset. He just….he came a whole other person and he was like, “I didn’t– I didn’t do anything. You’re accusing me.” And then the next thing I know, he– he grabbed me by here and he headbutted me. And all I felt was, you know…I felt, like, you know, blood coming down my face.”
Evelyn called police from a neighbors home. Chad was arrested and released the next day. Three days after the incident she filed for divorce. They were married 41 days. Here are some more excerpts below:
On how she felt when the details were revealed in the media:
“…Humiliated, embarrassed…in shock. I was in shock that my fairytale, my life or, you know, I felt like I was supposed to be starting my life, had just ended.”On her image on “BBW” and critics who say she might have “deserved it” (because she’s known to be aggressive and an instigator of fights and arguments on the show):
“I understand it, but I also think that it’s like saying, “Well, look at that woman that– look at what she had on. That’s why she got raped,” you know? I just feel like– I feel it’s a little unfair, you know? Whatever the perception of me is on Basketball Wives, that doesn’t justify what happened that day, you know? That’s catty drama amongst women on a reality show.”On the decision to file for divorce:
I said to myself, ‘I’m never going to go through that again, ever. I don’t think any woman should ever have to feel like that or be fearful of her husband… I was a very good fiancé and wife to Chad. I did everything I could to make his life better. The person on ‘Basketball Wives’ is not the person at home. I don’t think he would marry me if I was.”On what she wants for Chad:
I would like for him to tell me that he got help and that he is working on himself, whenever I talk to my sister or my girlfriend, I always say I want the best for him. I really do! And he is a good guy who made a bad choice. He loves football, he is very driven, a great dad. He made a bad choice that destroyed his life and I hate that I’m connected to that, I do, but it was his choice. It wasn’t mine.It would have to take sometime [for us to speak again]. I love him very much and I think that us being away from each other is the right thing. So when is he going to say sorry? [...] It’s the hardest thing in the world to walk away from someone that you really love/ But you have to walk away because I have to protect myself.
On her future image:
“You won’t see me throwin’ a bottle. I’ll tell you that. You know– I’m always gonna voice my opinion. But you won’t see me actin’ a fool, you know? I’ve grown a lot in the last couple months.”

BTW she jetted off to Barbados for some R&R.
Evelyn’s ordeal with Chad was captured on OWN Network’s show “Iyanla: Fix My Life”. The show had began filming right after the wedding and is set to air sometime this month.
