We thought she was kidding back in March when she said that she would love to return to judge the show. Well I guess the Universe Simon was listening, because according to US Weekly she will will join American Idol next season as a judge.
FOX has yet to confirm but sources say the rapper has “a few more slight things to sign off on” but is “100 percent confirmed to judge” the show.
Minaj joins Mariah Carey on the judges’ panel after Jennifer Lopez and Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler stepped down after last season. Rumor has it that Randy Jackson will move into a “mentoring” role, leaving one more judge spot open for next season. Nick Jonas has confirmed he is under consideration for the gig, and sources say Pharrell Williams is also up for the spot. Charlie Sheen has also expressed interest in being a judge on the show.
Ryan Seacrest is set to return as host for the show’s 12th season, which will premiere on FOX in January.
Meanwhile, on Twitter today Nicki let her frustrations out in response to critics who gave her grief for cancelling her headlining gig at England’s V Music Festival and a show in Dublin Ireland. She cancelled citing strained vocal cords.
