On orders from her doctor, femcee Nicki Minaj pulls out of the UK’s V Festival. She was to headline the festival this weekend but while boarding her flight to England, decided she could not carry on with the performance.
“Miss Minaj’s band and crew have all arrived in the UK ahead of the performance at the festival this weekend, however as the artist herself boarded her flight from New York on Friday, August 17, she felt unwell again,” Minaj’s reps explained in a statement. “This is despite having thought she had overcome her vocal chord issues from earlier in the week. Having revisited her doctor she has now been advised to rest for a week, which unfortunately means that she is no longer able to perform at V Festival.”
The singer is suffering from bruised vocal chords and was told to rest her voice on Monday but went agianst her doctors orders and performed on the Today show Tuesday morning and later that day performed at 2-hour set at the Roseland Ballroom.
That show was to make up for her failure to perform at Hot 97′s Summer Jam back in June due to comments made by popular on-air staff Peter Rosenberg.
Her V fest cancellation follows that of R&B crooner Frank Ocean, who pulled out of a series of European gigs a week ago for undisclosed reasons.
The Young Money first lady will be replaced by LMFAO.
