NEW MUSIC: Shabba Ranks- “Who Win Di War”

A month before his 2012 Reggae Sumfest performance in Montego Bay Jamaica, dancehall veteran dancehall act Shabba Ranks (born Rexton Gordon) teamed up with Calibud (Son of legendary producer Bobby ‘Digital B’ Dixon) to record the powerful song “War.”

Shabba’s vocals are laid over the modern version of the riddim for Bob Marley’s “War”. Emperor Shabba Ranks uses the platform to denounce war, of all kinds and to appeal to leaders and community members alike for peace and unity. As he says in the hook: “Ah who win the war; the police in the jeep or the soldiers in armored cars?”

Recorded live at the Dixon’s recording studio on Kingston’s Ron Road, Shabba expressed how happy he is with the outcome of the recording. “I’m very pleased with the song and I look forward to adding this song to my performances.

After listening to the riddim several artists including Cali P, Tarrus Riley and General Degree will be adding their vocals to the track.

“I’m very excited about the War riddim,” said Calibud. “This is a riddim that will help to unite the people and tell the world how great we are. This will be a great riddim.”

Proud poppa Bobby ‘Digital B’ Dixon, says this riddim is “ready for the world”.
