Every day is a chance to start again don’t???
That’s the essence of Mojo Morgan’s latest single “New Dawn” which features the powerful and haunting vocals of Jazz singer Nina Simone as well as contribution from brother and fellow Morgan Heritage member Peetah Morgan.
The song was inspired by Simone’s “Feeling Good” written over 25 years ago. Mojo says he chose the song specifically to introduce the legendary singer to a new generation.
“I chose Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good” because the lyrics are very empowering and gives you the courage needed in these times. Even though the song was written over 25 years ago. The inspiration for this song is the need to fight for survival when your back is against the wall. When you listen to this song it provides a vehicle for you to hear, see and feel what people go thru on a daily basis and no matter what, we should always try to look on the bright side of situations. When one door closes, many more open.”
Mojo’s rich musical palette is influenced by the land of his birth (America) and the land of his heritage (Jamaica). “New Dawn” has received positive reviews from Jamaica and even Ghana.
As the African proverb says “However long the night, the dawn will break.”
