PICS: Rihanna Poses For Barbados Tourism Campaign

Nivea who?

Just days after being snubbed by Nivea CEO for being too sexy, Rihanna poses for a promotional campaign for her native Barbados.  The 24 year-old was spotted on a local beach posing for the campaign hoped to boost tourism to the eastern Caribbean nation.

According to Barbados Tourism Association President Adrian Elcock:

“Production on the promotional campaign is expected to begin soon. It will be launched in September, in time for the winter tourist season.”

The singer was first named honorary cultural ambassador by late Barbadian Prime Minister David Thompson in Feb. 2008. She was presented with a piece of land in  the exclusive Apes Hill development in St. James.

While on her recent trip she paid for five fans to stay at the Sandy Lane Resort, she also treated them to dinner at her home and they accompanied her on the photoshoot.

Also liming in BIM with RiRi was media magnate Oprah Winfrey who interviewed her for “Next Chapter” a program on Oprah’s OWN network that features interviews with “newsmakers, celebrities, thought leaders and real-life families.”

Rihanna spoke to Oprah about life in the spotlight, her ties to home and yes, the Chris Brown aftermath. According to Rihanna losing CB was like losing her best friend.
Oprah also described her experience, including the preconceptions she had about the artist:

I went there with my own ideas about who she was. I thought she was gonna be kind of a badass, kind of a hard-edged, rocker pop woman. Nothing could have been further from the truth. This is who she was for me and my cameras. She was 100 percent herself. She was thoughtful. She was very emotional. She was vulnerable. She pushes the edge…I came away really getting a great sense of who she was.

This is how you know who someone is. How people react to them. When we went back to the neighborhood, this reaction surprised me because it wasn’t like a big superstar megastar popstar had arrived in the neighborhood. But it was just as if she had gone to the grocery store and came back. It was great to see.

The interview will air on August 19 at 9pm.
