Next Year Rebel Salute, Jamaica’s biggest one-night Reggae concert will have a new format and venue. After successful stagings in Manchester and St Elizabeth, the annual birthday bash for reggae singer Tony Rebel will be held in St. Ann over two days.
Flames Productions, organizers of the show have announced the 2013 dates to be January 18 and 19. They’ve already started the buzz on twitter and facebook and even erected a billboard at the Richmond Estate in St. Ann.
Rebel Salute was first staged in Brook’s Park, Mandeville in 1994, and after it was shifted to Port Kaiser Sports Complex in St Elizabeth, the Patrick ‘Tony Rebel’ Bailey/Flames Production event has served up the best in conscious, positive reggae music.
Rebel Salute sets itself apart for being a drug-free, violence-free, alcohol-free and meat-free, family-oriented event and has attracted thousands of “Saluters” each year.
Richmond Estate is a popular venue and some of the events that have been hosted there include the last staging of Reggae Sunsplash, Jamaica Curry Festival, Jamaica International Kite Festival and Usain Bolt’s 9.58 Party.
