X Factor winner and Epic artist Melanie Amaro has released her debut single seven months after winning the title. “Don’t Fail Me Now” was written by Bajan singer/songwriter Livvi Franc (Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson) and produced by urban pop heavyweight Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins who has worked with Toni Braxton, Destiny Child, Jennifer Lopez and more.
The single unfortunately reflects the euro dance trend that is dominating popular music right now. Melanie (and Epic I assume) are hanging their hopes on this song, after the disaster of a Pepsi commercial featuring her version of Aretha Franklin’s “Respect”. As with “Fail” her vocals were on point in that song, but everything else just seemed a bit off.
Has Melanie redeemed herself with this one or is it back to the drawing board for the 20 year-old?
