2012 carnival festivities in St. Lucia were cut short after an exchange of gunfire, allegedly between rival gangs, left one man dead.
The fatal shooting which occurred on Chisel Street Tuesday evening caused the death of innocent by-stander Levy Wilson. The tragedy prompted aw Enforcement officials to pull the plug on the traditional last lap jump up. The victim’s mother says she learned of his untimely death via a television report.
Earlier in the season Assistant Commissioner of Police Pancras Albert assured the public that there would be an increased police presence during Carnival.
