Another athlete of Jamaican heritage was also featured in the UK press this week: Dame Kelly Holmes.Thousands turned out to watch the gold medal middle distance runner carry the torch at Tonbridge Castle. Dame Holmes was born in Pembury, Kent, the daughter of Jamaican-born Derrick Holmes, and an English mother, Pam Norman.
