My dancers and I just shut ESSENCE Music festival dowwwwnn!! Feels AMAZING!, says pop reggae rock star Nefatari expressing her excitement of being part of the annual show that attracts thousands of music fans.
The Jamaican/American added some caribbean flava to the 2012 ”Essence Music Festival” New & Next Stage in New Orleans Thursday night. Other New & Next artists included the OMG Girls, Diggy Simmons and Square Off (Dayquan’Slim’ Davis and Solomon ‘Trips’ Davis) sons of human beatbox Doug-E-Fresh whose got Bajan roots.
The 4-day Essence Music Festival has a star-studded lineup featuring some of the biggest names in hip-hop and r&b including Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, D’Angelo, Mary J Blige, Estelle, Melanie Fiona and many more.
Just last weekend, Nefatari just performed in Queens, NY at the “Groovin In The Park” concert which featured Grammy winners Boyz 11 Men and R&B legend Gladys Knight.
I’m sure her mom and Essence editor-in-Chief Constance White was looking on proudly from the sidelines!

The empowerment sessions are open to the public and no ticket is required. Doors open at 9 a.m. Pre-show from 9 to 11 a.m. Opening remarks begin at 11 a.m.
