Supermodel Petra Nemcova joins actor Sean Penn and producer/rapper Wyclef Jean as an Ambassador at Large for Haiti- a title given to them by President Michel Martelly.
The 32 year-old Czech beauty was appointed due to her work with her charity Happy Hearts. She received the honor at a private ceremony at Haiti’s National Palace on Friday June 8.
In attendance were President Martelly, Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, Nemcova’s sister Olga and Haitian dignitaries. Penn, whose appointment came earlier this year, was also at the event. The actor’s J/P Haitian Relief Organization, which launched soon after the January 2010 Earthquake, manages two camps that house over 50,000 persons displaced by the quake. Penn also held “The Haiti Carnival” a fundraiser for the Caribbean country at the Cannes Film Festival last month, where he was also joined by Nemcova.
