Police SHUT DOWN Corey Todd Benefit Concert For Vybz Kartel

Former Portmore Empire members Popcaan, Tommy Lee, Gaza Slim, Sheba and others converged at Club Riddims (formerly The Building) in New Kingston last Tuesday (May 22) to show support to Vybz Kartel at a benefit concert put on by promoter Corey Todd. The festivities which included a performance by Konshes ended prematurely when police shut it down.

The benefit concert was conceptualized by Todd, who recently announced that he and Kartel have reunited after breaking ties last May. He announced that Street Vybz rum would be back on the shelves and the spirit was quite visible during the event last week.

Not sure what kind of money was raised (especially since ladies got in free before midnight)  but I guess it’s all good since Shorty says Kartel don’t need the help anyways. According to Katel’s common-law wife Tanesha “Shorty” Johnson:

“Dem reporter deh bright. Dem fi lose dem work. Me babyfada get 4 lawyer fi himself, plus 1 for Shawn Storm, 1 for Kahira, 1 for Nigel, 1 for Leng, 1 for Gaza Slim, and 1 for Madsuss make 10. And any time dem get pay, a me go bank go draw money. Plus a me have him debit card. Me three youth dem school fee pay every term. Light and water pay and me house have food. So all who a talk can’t stop him. A di benz truck him a go buy when him come, fi match di car.”
