Dancehall deejay Adidja “Vybz Kartel” Palmer turned 35 on Saturday Jan. 7th, unfortunately for the self-proclaimed world boss he was stuck in a Kingston jail cell.
Today he and his protege Gaza Slim (born Vanessa Saddler) will face the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court today to answer to charges of conspiracy and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
The first appeared in court in December on the charge before being remanded into custody. The charges stem from a report by Saddler to the police that she was robbed by Clive “Lizard” Williams, a man who Kartel is claimed to have murdered months earlier.
Along with Kartel, Andre St John, Shawn ‘Shawn Storm’ Campbell, Cairo Jones, Calvin Haye and Shane Williams are also facing charges for Williams’ murder.
Kartel and his associates are also facing murder and other charges in relation to the shooting death of Barrington ‘Bossie’ Bryan of Gregory Park, St Catherine in July. He was offered bail to the sum of $3 million in relation to this charge and will next appear in the resident magistrates court today as well on that charge.
