St Lucia’s Menelle has won the Euphony Vibes regional female Kaiso show held in Montserrat on Friday December 23rd. With a score of 702 points, she scored victory over second place winner Tasha P of Dominica (687 points) and Singing Jackie of St Kitts (667 points).
The show was organized by Euphony Vibes. Formed in 2006, the organization has been producing the local female Calypso competition which had halted back in 2002. There was no show in 2009 due to volcanic ash covering the island.
The organization got its name from Earl Sullivan AKA Accident,a former Calypsonian/composer. Other members of the group are by Eddie Prynze Duberry (who had now migrated to the US) and Paul Lewis. Both Lewis and Duberry were composers as well.
Participants from this year’s show came from Dominica, Anguilla, Barbuda, Tortola, St. Lucia, Antigua, St.Vincent, St. Kitts and Montserrat. This is great for calypso and female Calypsonians especially. Hope it continues!!!
