This Friday, patrons at the Jamaica College’s Karl Hendrickson Auditorium will be in for a treat as Reggaes brightest stars pay tribute to the legned Bob Andy. Artists such as Marcia Griffiths, Tarrus Riley, Protoje and Tony Rebel will be singing their version of Bob Andy-penned songs. I wonder who will sing my favorite “Too Experienced“, covered by Barrington Levy and Ms. Dynamite?
There will be an after party and Merritone will be on the ones and twos. Hey Winston, what a gwaan?
All proceeds from the event will go towards medical expenses of the singer/songwriter and also to his Bob Andy Song Foundation.
Dominican opera singer marie-claire is fortunate to have the priilage of her own Bob-Andy song,”constellation” . Bob (born Keith Anderson) approached her to write it and according to him, that’s something he’s never done for anyone since Marcia Griffith. How cool is that? I’m sure there are people clamouring for him to write them songs on the regular. Unfortunately marie-claire’s musical commitments in New York won’t allow her to be at the concert but here is the song that Bob Wrote. It’s off her EP the dreamland project (which you can download for free) and also includes a Bunny Wailer cover “dreamland” and Bob Marley cover “rastaman chant”.
