Portmore Empire artist Shawn Strom (real name Shawm Campbell) was released from police custody this morning after his attorney Michael Dean entered a plea of habeaus corpus at the Corporate Area Criminal Court on his behalf. He turned himself in on Monday, after being named as a person of interest.
Dean asked the court to order the artiste’s release as the police had not charged him with any crime.

Meanwhile, head of Portmore Empire, Adidja “Vybz Kartel” Palmer is still in jail. His lawyers did not request bail today as was previously expected as the court wanted verify claims that complaints of witness intimidation were made to Public Defender Earl Witter.The court ordered that if the claims were true, then documents with the details should be served on the defense.
Kartel was charged on October 3 following investigations into the July shooting death of 27-year-old Barrington Burton in Gregory Park, St. Catherine. Two other suspects in the case were charged earlier this week.
Kartel returns to court on October 26 when his trial for murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of a firearm will continue.
